Spotify Is Adding New Podcast Features Including a Following Feed & a Way for Creators to Link to Other Content Across Spotify
Spotify is rolling out new features for podcasts on mobile. Here’s what is coming:
Recommendations: On the home page, users will see podcast recommendations, both audio and video, that they can play or save. Some recommendations include notes explaining why Spotify suggests them.
Following Feed: All new episodes from shows a user follows will appear in a dedicated feed.
In This Episode: Creators can link directly to other content they mention, such as podcasts, audiobooks, playlists, and more available on Spotify.
Comments: The commenting experience now supports threaded replies for richer conversations.
Why It Matters: After adjusting its public Plays feature following user feedback, Spotify returns with updates that improve podcast discovery and engagement. Users can easily find new shows and stay updated on favorites. Creators get new tools to connect with listeners through linked content and enhanced comment threads. The “In This Episode” feature gives creators a unique way to drive traffic across Spotify’s growing ecosystem, whether it’s for their own content or content from guests.
Podcast Showdown: The competition between Spotify and YouTube in podcasting is continuing to heat Spotify’s updates follow YouTube’s recent launch of a new Weekly Top Podcast Shows chart and updated Podcasts homepage. Both platforms are investing heavily to win on discovery and engagement, especially when it comes to video podcasts.
