Instagram announced improvements for direct messages.

First, creators can now sort and filter their message requests in several ways, including by account type (e.g., other creators, businesses), subscribers, verified accounts, follower count, and more.

Second, creators can view all Story replies within a new and separate folder.

These improvements are now available globally.

Why It Matters: These enable creators to better manage their direct messages with new sorting and filtering options that help prioritize messages that matter most—whether from brands interested in paid partnerships, other creators looking to collaborate, or fans that want to get in touch. For creators who receive a high volume of messages, these features will be especially helpful.

By centralizing Story replies, creators can now see all responses at a glance, making it easier to track, respond quickly, and engage with their fans.

Instagram continues to focus on enhancing the direct message experience with features centered on convenience, creativity, connection, and customization. Notable past updates include the ability to pin up to three chats at the top of the inbox for easy access, new theme options for customizing chats, and a tool to create cutouts from photos and videos in the gallery to use in DMs.
