Instagram Rolls Out Shared Access Feature, Letting Users Collaborate Without Sharing Passwords
Instagram is giving more users access to Shared Access, a long-in-the-works feature a feature first spotted last year.
Shared Access lets users invite up to three people to help manage their Instagram account without password sharing required. Collaborators can post content, respond to comments, and handle other account tasks.
Meta Verified for Business subscribers can invite up to nine people, depending on their plan.
Important guardrails are built in. Invited users cannot change the account name or password, nor can they disable the account. The original account owner maintains granular control over permissions, deciding who can access the inbox, add Stories, and perform other functions.
They can also view detailed activity logs and revoke access at any time.
Why It Matters: Shared Access makes collaboration easier and safer for creators and brands working with trusted team members while preserving account security and control.
This is particularly valuable for creators who work with assistants to develop, schedule, and publish content.
For brands, it streamlines coordination among internal teams or agency partners, potentially leading to faster response times for DMs and comments while maintaining clear oversight of account activity.
