Instagram Tests a Daily Limit on How Many Trial Reels Creators Can Share

Instagram

Instagram appears to be testing limits on how many Trial Reels creators can share in a 24-hour period. Several creators have reported receiving notifications saying they’ve “almost reached the limit” and can only share one more before needing to wait.

A cap of 20 Trial Reels per day has been thrown around, however, Instagram hasn’t officially confirmed any details.

Why It Matters: Trial Reels have become a popular tool for creators to experiment with content and reach new audiences. Over the past few weeks, Instagram has highlighted success stories from creators using the feature. The platform shared that 40% of those who try Trial Reels go on to post more Reels, and 80% see increased reach with non-followers.

While many creators find the feature valuable, others have raised concerns about users abusing it by posting excessive, duplicate, or outdated content.

A limit could help still give creators space to experiment while helping maintain a fair environment where everyone has a chance for their content to be seen. If this test expands, creators may need to be more intentional about what they publish as Trial Reels, focusing on content with the best chance to engage new viewers, as opposed to flooding the Instagram ecosystem.
