Custom Messages Sent With LinkedIn Connection Requests Will Now Stay Visible to Receipts

LinkedIn's Updated Connection Request Workflow

LinkedIn

LinkedIn is rolling out a subtle but impactful update to improve how users connect on the platform.

When sending a connection request, there’s an option to include a note, whether it's a quick intro, a follow-up from an event, or a reason for reaching out. Previously, that message would disappear once the recipient clicked Reply.

Now, that note will stay visible when replying, making it easier to remember the context and keep the conversation going.

Why It Matters: This change eliminates an annoying friction point. Instead of guessing why someone reached out, users can now see the original message and respond in a more intentional and informed way.

Gyanda Sachdeva, LinkedIn’s VP of Product Management, who announced the update, said it’s part of the platform’s “broader effort to help members build networks that truly reflect their professional goals.”

LinkedIn has also recently improved messaging by making conversations that land in the Other folder more visible and allowing users to view videos shared in messages natively, without having to download the files first.
