Instagram Is Testing “Latest” and “Most Viewed” Filters for Reels

Brent Colmer

Instagram is testing new Reels filters: “Latest” and “Most Viewed.” According to a screenshot shared by Canadian blogger Brent Colmer, the feature is accessible via an up arrow on the Reels tab. Tapping it allows users to sort Reels by either the most recently posted or the most viewed content.

Why It Matters: This feature gives users more control over how they discover Reels, whether they’re looking for the newest content or what’s trending from a specific account. For creators and brands, it opens up new visibility opportunities. Recent posts can surface through “Latest,” while viral ones continue gaining traction in “Most Viewed.”

For influencer marketers, it offers a faster way to identify high-performing content from specific creators and compare what’s resonating now versus past content. It’s a smart move by Instagram to improve Reels discovery for individual accounts and a clear sign it is continuing to borrow from TikTok to improve the experience for both users and creators.

TikTok has added filtering options for content for both mobile and desktop over the years.
