Instagram Pushes for Full-Screen Content with New Story Prompt
Instagram is nudging users to make in-feed posts they share to Stories full-screen. Some users are now seeing a “Tap to change size” prompt when sharing a post. Hitting it stretches the content to fill the screen.
Why It Matters: It’s a simple update, but one that could lead more users to share posts in full screen. That small shift has the potential to boost engagement and keep viewers watching longer.
What’s even more notable is the timing. This update comes alongside Instagram rolling out its Expander tool to more users and announcing support for 3:4 aspect ratio photos.
The Expander uses Meta AI to expand smaller photos so they take up the full screen in Stories. The 3:4 format, which is native to most mobile devices, is now supported in feed so users can upload and display photos exactly as they’re shot.
All of this, combined with earlier updates like making posts appear larger on profile grids, shows Instagram is making a clear push toward larger, more immersive content across the app.
