Meta launched a standalone app for Meta AI. Users can chat or speak to the AI assistant for answers and real-time search results. It delivers personalized responses by tapping into users’ Facebook and Instagram profiles and activity. A new Discover tab adds a social twist, surfacing prompts from friends.

Meta AI also replaces the Meta View app as the companion for Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses.

Why It Matters: By giving Meta AI its own app, Meta is moving into more direct competition with ChatGPT. The integration of social signals through the Discover tab and the use of data across users’ Meta accounts gives it a unique edge. It has the potential to make the assistant feel more personalized, social, and useful.
