Spotify is testing "Your Updates," a new personalized notification feed in the app’s sidebar. Users in the test will be able to receive alerts about new followers, playlist collaborations, replies to comments, and other relevant updates.
Spotify CEO Daniel EK says the feature is still in its “early days.”
Why It Matters: It’s another step toward making Spotify feel more like a social media platform. The company has been actively working to bring more creators to its platform, including podcasters and video creators.
Plus, it’s also introducing more ways for creators and audiences to interact and engage with each other. One recent example is a set of new features it rolled out to improve podcast discovery and engagement that include new Recommendations, threaded Comments, and an In This Episode feature.
