TikTok now allows creators to add alternative (ALT) text to photo posts, making the platform more accessible. Here's how it works:

  • Creators can write descriptive text that enables screen readers to describe the visual content aloud to users with visual or cognitive impairments.

  • ALT text can be added during upload or edited anytime after publishing.

Why It Matters: This long-overdue feature, already standard on most major platforms, is the latest way TikTok is trying to make the platform more accessible. It improves the experience for blind and low-vision users who rely on screen readers to navigate content.
