YouTube Shorts now generates the same revenue per watch hour as long-form videos in several countries, including the U.S. and even more in some. CEO Neal Mohan revealed the milestone at the MoffettNathanson Media, Internet & Communications Conference. He credited AI and the variety of ad placements available in Shorts.

Why It Matters: This is a major milestone. Monetizing short-form video has long been a challenge for many platforms, and one big question has been whether YouTube could replicate its long-form ad success with Shorts. With the platform pushing creator-led ads, leveraging AI, and increasing viewership across Shorts, Shorts monetization will likely continue to grow to the benefit of YouTube and its creators.
