Deezer Becomes First Music Streaming Platform to Label Fully AI-Generated Music
Deezer / AI-Generated Music Labels
Music streaming service Deezer is now labeling fully AI-generated music. Using a new detection tool, it can identify songs created with artificial intelligence and tag the albums they appear on.
These albums will feature an “AI-generated content” label along with a warning: “Some tracks on this album may have been created using artificial intelligence.”
AI-generated songs will be excluded from editorial playlists and algorithm-based recommendations and they’ll also be filtered out of royalty payments.
Deezer says about 18 percent of music uploaded daily, which is around 20,000 tracks, is now fully AI-generated.
Why It Matters Deezer is the first music streaming platform to label albums containing fully AI-generated music. This move brings more transparency to listeners, helping them understand what’s human-made versus AI-created, while also protecting against royalty fraud.
AI-generated content continues to rise across formats. While social platforms have added labels to posts, photos, and videos, streaming platforms have done little when it comes to music. Deezer’s decision could be a turning point, prompting others like Spotify, Apple Music, and more to take similar action.
