Patreon Increases Its Prices for New Creators
Patreon is updating its pricing plans. Starting August 4, 2025, creators launching a new page, whether new to the platform or existing users creating a new page, will be placed on a new Standard plan with a 10% fee. Patreon is consolidating its Pro (8%) and Premium (12%) tiers into this single plan, while existing creators and pages won’t see any increases.
Why It Matters This marks Patreon’s first major pricing update in six years. Since then, the platform has evolved from a simple membership site to a full media and community destination that includes native video uploads (now up to 100 hours per month free), live streaming, podcast syncing, recommendations, and much more, making the fee adjustments easier to justify.
The new pricing also aligns Patreon more closely with competitors like Substack, which takes a 10% fee from creators for subscriptions. Substack has become a direct competitor to Patreon, Kajabi, and others in the growing creator monetization space, as it has moved from a newsletter platform to more of a place for creators to share and monetize multiple forms of content.
