Instagram Adds Reel Linking to Support Multi-Part and Serialized Content
Instagram rolled out a new feature that lets creators link multiple Reels together, which has been highly requested.
Through the new "Link a Reel" option, which is available when writing a caption or via the overflow menu on an existing Reel, creators can select another Reel to connect and give it a title. A button will then appear on the Reel, directing viewers to the linked content.
Why It Matters: Serialized and multi-part content is on the rise, but until now, Instagram creators had to manually guide viewers to "part two" or hope they'd dig through profiles to find related clips.
This native feature, which brings Instagram more on par with YouTube and TikTok, who have iterations, reduces friction for viewers, which makes it more likely they are going to find and watch the next episode in a series or a related Reel.
For influencer marketing campaigns, this can also be useful. For example, creators, who are part of ambassador programs or long-term partnerships, can link sponsored Reels together, such as showcasing different products from a collection.
