Threads Prompts Users to Cross-Post to Instagram Stories for Increased Visibility

Lindsey Gamble

Threads is now nudging users to share their posts on Instagram. After publishing a post, users may see an in-app prompt inviting them to share it directly to their Instagram Stories with a simple “Try It” button. The prompt encourages users with the message:

“Get more eyes on your posts by adding them to your Instagram Story from the share menu.”

Why It Matters: By cross-posting between Threads and Instagram, creators can increase visibility for their Threads content, potentially driving more of their Instagram followers to join them on Threads. For Instagram, this tactic keeps users engaged within its ecosystem while helping to drive traffic back to Threads, which now boasts 350 million users.
